Getting started
What is GRDN Helper?
GRDN Helper is a neighbor-powered mobile app for finding trusted local garden, lawn, and outdoor help — built around your community, not a faceless marketplace. Homeowners post jobs, vetted neighbors respond, and you pay only after the work is approved.
Do I need an account to use GRDN Helper?
Yes — a free account lets you post jobs, message providers, and approve payment. Account creation takes under a minute and only requires a phone number.
Is there a minimum job size?
No platform minimum, but most providers have a $35–$45 trip minimum. Tiny jobs are usually bundled with a recurring service for better pricing.
Can I book same-day service?
Often yes for mowing and basic cleanup, especially in seeded neighborhoods. Specialty services (tree work, irrigation) typically book 2–5 days out.
How fast do providers respond?
Most jobs receive a first response within 30 minutes during business hours. You'll typically see 2–4 quotes within 4 hours.
Do I have to be home for the work?
No — most outdoor jobs are done while you're out. The provider checks in via the app on arrival and sends photos at completion.
Pricing & payment
How is pricing set?
Providers quote each job individually. The app surfaces local price ranges so you know what's fair before booking. Recurring service is typically 10–20% cheaper per visit than one-time bookings.
Are there service fees?
GRDN Helper is free for homeowners. Providers pay a small platform fee on completed jobs, which is built into their quoted price.
When do I pay?
After you approve the completed work. Payment is held briefly in the app and released to the provider once you confirm the job is done.
What payment methods are accepted?
All major credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay / Google Pay through the app's secure payment flow.
Is tipping expected?
Tipping is optional but appreciated. Most homeowners tip $5–$15 for great recurring work; the app makes it a one-tap add to any job.
What's the refund policy?
Full refund if work isn't completed. Partial refund for unsatisfactory work is mediated through GRDN Helper support — most disputes are resolved within 48 hours.
What if a job takes longer than quoted?
Most quotes are flat-rate per visit. Hourly jobs that overrun require provider to message you for approval before continuing — no surprise charges.
Are estimates free?
Yes — quotes inside the app are always free. Some larger projects (planting design, irrigation audits) may include a refundable design fee credited against the install.
Are there cancellation fees?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the scheduled visit. Same-day cancellations may incur a partial trip charge ($15–$25).
Providers & trust
How are providers vetted?
Providers verify identity, link to a verified phone number, and accumulate neighbor-visible ratings tied to real local jobs. HOAs can additionally require insurance verification before approving providers in their community.
Are providers insured?
Providers self-attest to general liability coverage at signup. HOA-approved providers must upload current certificates of insurance. Always confirm coverage in chat before high-value work.
Are background checks performed?
Identity verification is required. Full criminal background checks are available as an HOA-level requirement and are flagged on the provider's profile when present.
Can I request the same provider every week?
Yes — once you've worked with a neighbor you like, you can lock them in as your recurring provider. They'll see your jobs first before they go to the open marketplace.
What if I'm not satisfied with the work?
Don't approve payment — message the provider in-app to request a fix. If unresolved, GRDN Helper support steps in. Most issues are resolved within 48 hours and we side with the homeowner on documented quality issues.
Can I block a provider?
Yes — block from any chat or job thread. Blocked providers won't see your future jobs and you won't be matched with them again.

GRDN Helper is a native mobile app for iOS and Android. The website is informational only — all booking, messaging, and community features happen inside the app.
